As predicted by Richie and I the pufftas from Reading have been relegated. It is no surprise to anyone with any knowlege at all about football. Maybe ChrisV doesn't get it, but as I said anyone who know's anything about football won't be surprised.
along with the blue brummies........see gold and sullivan interveiw where they both said they are quiting.oh dear.........no money to come back up.
lets hope you can watch them play leeds next season paul.
My Reading-supporting mate has just sent me a text saying 'I'm prepared to not mention football again till 2010 if you are (and I dont mean ten past eight either)'.
For my part, as my boys have just taken the worst drubbing since I became a season ticket holder in 1980, I am not going to talk about football again until I get to Costa Rica in June. :blush:By then my optimism will have returned and I will be able to concentrate on our glorious UEFA Cup campaign thanks to the 'fair play' league.
Not going to mention the events at Wigan either.
As a Reading supporter, all I can say is that I expected this outcome weeks ago. Although dissapointed to be going down, we were not prepared to compete financially with other teams in the division with regards to the transfer of players, so we were always going to struggle. The English Premier league is the most competitive and wealthiest league in the world, and as any business person knows, it you stand still, other will overtake you and you end up going backwards.
You pay peanuts and you get monkeys, and our freefall comes to no surprise to many supporters, but it is tinged with dissapointment with all the the money we had to spend (about $80million in TV renue alone) But, it has been a great ride for the past few seasons, and there are more important things in life.
I am man enough to take it on the chin and even though Paul is obviously delighted at this, I would like to take the chance to wish Leeds United all the very best in the playoffs and I hope we will be playing them next season.
