Well after reading the several things going on in the NFL (T O to Buffalo among them) people are already looking at some contenders for next years Super Bowl, among them are:

AFC:
East - Buffalo Bills 7-9 (Last in the division) Adding T.O. they should see some change but at what cost and is it enough to spark the whole team to reach the Super Bowl? Like many other people, I think there will be to many issues with T. O. for them to make it.

South - Houston Texans 8-8 (3rd in the division). I don't see this happening this year or next. The Titans are hot and the Colts have been at or near the top for a couple of years.

West - Kansas City Chiefs 2-14 (Last in the division) - Acquiring Matt Cassel and some coaching changes will help turn this team around but they still have to get past the Broncos and Chargers (Both of which finished 8-8, something I didn't expect to see). As a side note, it will be interesting to see how New England does this year.

NFC:
East - Washington Redskins 8-8 (Last in the division). I wouldn't consider this possibility until after the draft at least. This division as 2 1/2 tough teams in it (Sorry, cheap shot at the Cowboys).

North - Green Bay Packers 6-10 (3rd in the Division) This is the only one I see as in the realm of possibility - they did well with a new quarterback after Favre left and I could see them making a run this year.

This is my take on "some possible" Super Bowl contenders. At this point the only thing I express and opinion on is that both the 49'ers and Raiders will see some improvement and the 49'ers may make it to the playoffs this year. I don't see the Raiders getting that far.

Before anybody asks - I have no comment about the Detroit Lions!

Anybody want to express their opinion yet - or is it still to early in the year?
As usual, I can only comment on the NFC East. It looks like a few good trades will help them on the defensive line, to the detriment of the Cowboys. Philly is still a problem. As for Washington, they still have the same owner so I don't see much change.

As for Detroit, they can't have a worse year.

Perry,

Did you see the article today about "The most destructive egos in the sports world"

Number 1 was not Barry Bonds, Keyshawn Johnson or even Terrell Owens..... Number one belongs to:
THE One, THE Only..... AL DAVIS, I think Washington has a better chance of change (to the good that is).

I'm going wait until after the drafts and trades to see how things shape up. I was a little surprise over the article picking these 5 as the teams that could be "2009 Cardinals"
Below is exactly why I think it's to early to make any Super Bowel team predications, besides this heavy blow to Denver, we still have a coaches spots to be filled, drafts and trades. Cutler's decision to leave Denver has a big impact on my view of their chances in the coming year.
Besides this, the Giants are looking to get up higher in the draft to get a player they want. I haven't seen where L.T. has settled with th Chargers.... the list goes on.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP)—Jay Cutler says he wants to break up. The Denver Broncos say they want to make up.

The Pro Bowl quarterback was a no-show on Monday for coach Josh McDaniels’ first team meeting and the start of the Broncos’ offseason workouts, and if he gets his way, he’ll never step foot in the team’s training facility again.

“The Denver Broncos confirm that Jay Cutler has requested a trade,” team spokesman Jim Saccomano told The Associated Press on Monday.

McDaniels declined interview requests after telling The Denver Post that he wanted to meet again with Cutler to try to resolve their differences before he considers a trade.
Well I'm guessing that our Bears fans are fairly happy today. With them acquiring Cutler I would say they have a good chance at making the playoffs this year (depending on other developments). This should be an interesting season.... now the question is - Is Vick going to be picked up by anyone?
A few days ago it was reported that in Vick's bankruptcy filing he estimated annual income from playing football to be about $10 million. Yesterday it was announced he expected to be working in construction. I don't see a team wanting to pick him up at this time. But Detroit can be considered as being very desperate. The next few months could be very interesting.
Maybe I missed hearing something. Is Vick out of jail now?
I don't think so. The bankruptcy hearing was held without him. But he will be released soon. His statement said he expected to be playing in the NFL by September.

ST,

Vick is due to get out of jail in July or maybe late May but be on Home confinement.
Well things are still in transition, the Raiders did something right (be still my heart) - they signed Jeff Garcia as a backup quarterback. The Giants cut Plaxico Burress, the Ravens re-signed Samari Rolle after cutting him last month (guessing they wanted better terms on his contract since his injury). Denver needs to decide who the starting quarterback is Orton or Simms. In the meantime the Bears are revving up to face the Green Bay Packers on Sept 13th. Looks like we are going to have a very interesting season.
